Project: Software user interface design, Complex HTML and Javascript development

Client:
Surveyor Corporation

Challenge: Surveyor Corporation is a leading developer of Web camera technologies. Along with the latest feature upgrades, Surveyor wanted to make the user interface more user-friendly and launch a new marketing plan. I was an employee of Surveyor and belonged to both the Engineering and Marketing departments.

Approach: One of the first places the marketing team started was the packaging for its Webcam32 software. These graphics were used on all marketing materials and eventually became a product icon that customers quickly recognized.

Next, the user interface was updated from a standard Windows 98 interface (square boxes and gray buttons) to a more futuristic, tactile-looking device. The interface design was heavily influenced by current digital camera design.

One year later, the company launched an online subscription-based service that allowed parents to check in with their children with Web cameras. I played a key role in the developing the marketing Web site and the software application that ran through a standard Web browser.

A lot of the content has changed since my departure from Surveyor. I also helped design the corporate Web site and built an online store for software downloads, web cameras and webcam accessories.
